The Family Wedding

The Family Wedding is growing in popularity!

1 in 4 weddings today involve people with children.  People are realizing the importance of involving their children in their new marriage.  The children are being made part of a new family.  It is important to make them know that they are part of and included in the new family and accepted by the new parent.

In cases where both people getting married have children it is very important for each party to accept the children of the other.   This ceremony helps those children feel part of the new marriage and family.  Each child is accepted by the "New Parent" and is included in the ceremony.

The Family Wedding Ceremony is a lovely ceremony embracing the children in words and with the Family Unity Candle.

The Family Unity Candle has a large candle in the middle signifying the Family, a candle for each parent and a candle for each child (up to 7).  The candle lighting ceremony is a beautiful ceremony to include every one who will be part of the new family being formed.

The Family Wedding Ceremony -
While this can be done at any point during the wedding ceremony, it is sometimes done after the the couple is pronounced husband and wife.  When done in this way there is a small additional ceremony accepting the children and lighting the Family Unity Candle as a separate, yet equally important celebration of the two families becoming one new family.
